Free live masterclass · Saturday, September 19, 2026 · 11:00 AM Central

Build the practice you were licensed for.

Don't start with a business idea. Start with a problem worth solving.

NP school teaches us how to take care of patients. It usually doesn't teach us how to build the business around that care. APRN Academy is live class training on finding a real problem, shaping a service around it, and understanding the coding, billing, and documentation behind the money.

Create Your Own Lane is live on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Central Time. The paid revenue classes run launch weekend, Saturday October 24 and Sunday October 25, 2026.

Taught by Larry Wilkes, MSN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C. Practicing FNP and PMHNP, practice owner for more than 10 years, and founder of APRN Academy.

The framework

Three steps from an unmet need to a service someone will pay for.

This is the order I use. Most NPs stall because they start at step three with an idea, then go looking for someone who wants it.

  1. 01

    Spot the gap

Look for a real access, workflow, clinical, or business problem in front of you. Not a business idea you hope people want.

  2. 02

    Match your expertise

Line that problem up against your license, your experience, your relationships, and the hours you actually have.

  3. 03

Build the service and revenue model

Name the service. Name the buyer. Map how you get paid. Then run one small test.

Once you find your lane, you have to know how to get paid in that lane.

Who teaches these classes

Larry Wilkes, MSN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C

Larry Wilkes, MSN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, in a suit and tie
I didn't build one lane in healthcare. I built several. I've practiced as both an FNP and PMHNP, built private practices, worked in homes and nursing facilities, built a billing and revenue company for NPs, and I also own an LPN nursing school. APRN Academy is where I teach the business lessons I had to learn by doing the work.
  • Practicing FNP and PMHNP, still seeing patients
  • Has owned and operated private healthcare practices for more than 10 years
  • Works across primary care, psychiatry, and home and facility care
  • Built NP Revenue Partners around NP billing and revenue operations
  • Owns and operates Illinois College of Nursing, an LPN nursing school
More about Larry

This comes from doing the work

The lanes I've built

Five lanes, built and run in practice. The classes come out of these, not out of theory.

Primary care, home and facility practice

Office-based primary care plus house calls and nursing facility rounds. Different settings, different workflows, different money.

Psychiatric care

Therapy and medication management as a PMHNP, including how psych visits get documented and paid.

NP billing, coding and revenue operations

NP Revenue Partners, built around the claims side of NP practices. The revenue material comes from that daily work.

Nursing education

Owner and operator of Illinois College of Nursing, an LPN nursing school. Running a school is its own business.

APRN business education

APRN Academy and mentorship, where the lessons from the other four lanes get taught to other NPs.

Questions

Honest answers before you register

How are classes delivered?

Live online through Zoom or Google Meet. You attend in real time and you can ask questions.

Do I need an account or subscription?

No. You register or pay, and everything you need comes by email. There is no portal to log into and no recurring charge.

When are the live dates?

Dates go out by email. If a class page shows no date yet, none has been set. We will not post a date that is not real.

Do I get a recording?

Only when a recording is explicitly listed as included with that class. Otherwise, plan to attend live.

Is CE credit offered?

No. APRN Academy classes carry no continuing education credit.

Will the billing content apply in my state and with my payers?

Coding, payer, state, scope, and telehealth rules vary. Classes teach the framework and where to verify it. You still have to confirm current requirements for your own state, payers, and practice.

What about refunds?

Refund and cancellation terms for paid classes are published on the Refund Policy page and in your confirmation email.

Are results or income guaranteed?

No. Nothing here promises income, reimbursement, credentialing outcomes, or business results.
